FAQ:

FIRST VISIT:

Q. What should I expect during my initial visit?

A. Your first visit includes a thorough health history, extensive laboratory panel, and a 12-lead EKG. You will be weighed, measured, and we will asses your BMI and Body Fat %. You will receive a Vitamin B12 injection for increased energy, and Calcium Pyruvate supplements. One of our counselors will explain our program to you in detail.
Once our medical staff deems you are eligible for our program, you may receive prescription appetite suppressants.

Q. What is Calcium Pyruvate?
A. Pyruvate is a carbohydrate that assists in the conversion of food into energy. It helps to block fat.

Q. What is BMI, and how does it differ from Body Fat %?
A. Body Mass Index is a number determined by height and weight that indicates whether a person falls into a healthy or obese category. Body Fat % relates to body composition ö the percentage of fat to lean muscle, bone, and fluid.

THE DIET:

Q. Does your program require a specific number of grams of protein or carbs per day?
A. Our plans do not specify a certain number of grams. After the initial three days of protein, your food intake percentage should aim for 80% protein, 20% carbs. All condiments should have no more than 4 grams of carbs or sugars. If a patient follows the guidelines set forth for diet selections, food preparation and caloric intake, counting grams is unnecessary.

Q. Will I have to buy your foods?
A. No, there are no pre-packaged foods to buy. You will shop for your own foods and prepare them according to the diet, using F.D.A. nutrition panels to assist you in making smart choices.

Q. Should I keep a food diary?
A. Yes. We will give you a log to record your daily food intake.

Q. Can I have fruit?
A. Yes, after the first two weeks you may have fruit from our approved list once or twice a week.

Q. How much fluid must I consume every day?
A. For optimal results, we recommend you drink 128 oz, or a gallon of fluid a day.

Q. Are there any food restrictions?
A. Yes. You will be given a list of foods not allowed while on the program.

Q. Should I take vitamins?
A. Absolutely. A multi-vitamin with minerals is essential.

Q. Do you offer any alternative diet plans?
A. In addition to our primary program, we offer a vegetarian plan as well.

MAINTENANCE PHASE:

Q. What happens when I reach my goal weight?

A. Once you attain your goal weight, we will work with you on beginning an increased calorie diet.

Q. How do I keep from gaining the weight I lost back once I have reached my goal?
A. Weight gain is a matter of numbers. 3500 calories equals one pound. If you take in more calories than you burn, your body stores them as fat and you gain weight. Our staff are here to coach you through your weight loss phase and on through maintenance. We will help you learn good eating habits for life through our maintenance program.
